Abstract: [037] A smart assistive system for real-time environmental perception and navigation assistance for visually impaired persons is disclosed. The system comprises a wearable support structure carrying an image-acquisition module and an ultrasonic distance-sensing module, and an embedded processing unit configured to process environmental image data and obstacle-distance data. A lightweight pre-trained object-recognition module generates recognized-object information from captured image frames, while a distance-assessment function determines obstacle proximity from ultrasonic time-of-flight information. A sensor-data integration and alert- priority function correlates object identity with obstacle distance and determines a proximity-responsive alert. The correlated information is converted by a text-to- speech module into an auditory message and delivered through an audio output device. Predetermined distance zones may provide different warnings, including cautionary slow-movement and stop alerts. The integrated embedded-vision and sensor-fusion architecture thereby provides substantially real-time object recognition, distance assessment and hands-free auditory feedback without requiring pre-installed external navigation infrastructure.
