MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050303 A) filed by Auto Ignition Ltd. on April 20, 2026, for Slip Ring Wire Locator Assembly For Field Current Transfer In Automotive Alternator Rotor.
Inventor includes Manoj Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wire locator assembly (200) for an automotive alternator rotor, configured to provide a reliable mechanical and electrical connection between a slip ring wire and a rotor field coil winding. The wire locator assembly (200) is mounted on a rotor shaft (3) and positioned along the electrical path between slip rings (16) and the rotor field coil (10). The wire locator assembly comprises guide (14.2) for routing and aligning the wires and a locator terminal (14.1) for mechanically securing the wires by crimping prior to soldering. The crimping operation ensures positional stability of the wires during soldering, thereby reducing the occurrence of dry solder joints and improving electrical continuity. The invention eliminates the need for twisting and adhesive application used in conventional methods. The resulting crimped and soldered joint exhibits enhanced mechanical strength and durability under vibration and thermal stress. The assembly improves manufacturability by reducing process steps, minimizing variability, and enabling consistent, high-quality connections. Ref. Fig.-Fig. 2
