Abstract: In aircraft maintenance and overhaul, major time is spent on removal and installation of hatch covers thereby loosening and tightening of ample number of fasteners. Also, these hatch covers are prone to misplacement or inter-mixing with each other leading to downtime of aircraft. A slack door assembly can provide quick access to internal areas of closed sections of aircraft for repair/ replace/ rework of affected part, removal of foreign objects, from external skin on aircraft sub-assemblies like wing, stabiliser, air intakes, air channel, vertical/ ventral fin without removal of hatch-covers or other structural components. Also these slack doors help in inspection of internal areas for presence of corrosion, cracks, debris and foreign objects. These special doors can reduce the time and efforts required for removal and re- installation of numerous hatch-covers. The arrangement allows loosening and rotation of slack door without dislodging, thus preventing misplacement or inter-mixing of hatch covers.
