Abstract: The present invention relates to a notch-type chevron nozzle configured to enhance jet mixing and reduce noise through passive geometric modification at the nozzle exit. The nozzle comprises a converging body having an inlet diameter of approximately 50 mm, an outlet diameter of approximately 30 mm, and an overall length of approximately 60 mm. The outlet is provided with six uniformly distributed triangular notches, each having a depth of approximately 4 mm and an included angle of 60°. The notches introduce controlled disturbances into the shear layer of the exiting jet, generating six primary stream wise vortices. The selected notch geometry promotes gradual interaction between the jet and surrounding fluid, thereby enhancing mixing and accelerating jet-core breakdown. The symmetric hexagonal configuration provides uniform flow behaviour, reduces large-scale turbulent structures, and consequently contributes to noise reduction. The nozzle is simple, scalable, and suitable for aerospace and industrial fluid-flow applications.
