MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641098418 A) filed by Dr. K. Nagarajan on August 14, 2026, for Six-Arm Airflow-Controlled Olfactometer System For Simultaneous Insect Host Preference Testing.
Inventor includes Dr. K. Nagarajan.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Six-Arm Airflow-Controlled Olfactometer System for Simultaneous Insect 1-lost Preference The present invention discloses a multi-directional, six-arm airflow- controlled olfactometer apparatus engineered for the simultaneous, high-throughput behavioral bioassay of terrestrial arthropods. The apparatus comprises a central bioassay arena symmetrically coupled to six radially extending, transparent conduit arms. Each arm is fluidically connected to a modular, interchangeable odor-delivery cartridge, enabling the independent introduction of up to six distinct volatile organic compound (VOC) treatments. An integrated pneumatic regulation system, utilizing individually calibrated flow channels, generates a continuous, unidirectional laminar airflow thiough each conduit. This configuration establishes stable, nonturbulent chemotactic gradients converging at the central arena while actively preventing crosscontamination and turbulent mixing of adjacent odor plumes. Constructed from sterilizable, chemically inert materials including borosilicate glass and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), the modular architecture facilitates rapid cartridge interchangeability without dismantling the primary structural housing. The system provides a statistically robust, scalable platform for evaluating semiochemical- mediated interactions, host-preference mapping, and screening biological control agents
