The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: Simple field permeability test apparatus for pavements is the proposed invention. The proposed invention discloses a simple field permeability test apparatus for pavements that enables rapid and reliable determination of road surface permeability under actual field conditions. The apparatus comprises a mild steel ring with a graduated scale, which is placed on a horizontal pavement surface and sealed at the base using grease or putty to prevent water leakage. During operation, water is poured into the apparatus up to a predetermined level, and the time required for the water level to fall between two specified marks is recorded. The permeability coefficient of the pavement is then calculated using a mathematical relationship based on the measured water head difference, infiltration area, flow path length, and elapsed time. The invention provides a portable, easy-to-operate, and cost-effective alternative to conventional laboratory-based permeability testing methods. Owing to its simple construction, ease of transportation, low fabrication cost, and straightforward testing procedure, the apparatus facilitates efficient on-site evaluation of pavement drainage characteristics, quality control during construction, and maintenance planning for both conventional and permeable pavement systems.
