Abstract: The invention relates to a side melting system intended to be housed in a side chamber (1) of a furnace (2) which also comprises a main chamber (3) connected to the side chamber (1). Said system comprises a volute (4) which is a ceramic body with a housing (5) containing an agitator (6) that moves a flow of molten material arriving from the main chamber (3), through a channel (9), towards a vortex chamber (10) which is a ceramic body with a receptacle (11) having an at least partially conical configuration. In the vortex chamber (10), a vortex is generated in the flow such that when the material to be melted is introduced, it is drawn in and melted. It is then recirculated to the main chamber (3). The channel (9) has an upward inclination from the volute outlet (8) to the second vortex chamber inlet (13).
