MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611092493 A) filed by Chandigarh University on July 30, 2026, for Shear Wave-Based Perimeter Intrusion Detection And Threat Classification System.

Inventors include Ujjwal Mishra; Ashutosh Kumar Choudhary; Ruksana; and Tanvi.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a shear wave-based perimeter intrusion detection and threat classification system configured to detect, localize, and classify intrusion events through distortion analysis of mechanically propagated shear waves. The system employs a network of shear wave transmitters and receivers to continuously monitor perimeter structures or underground media for disturbances caused by human movement or vehicular activity. Received signals are conditioned, transformed, and analysed to extract characteristic features associated with intrusion events. An edge-based intelligent classification module processes the extracted features to distinguish human intrusions from environmental disturbances and to identify potential carried objects or weapons with confidence estimation. The system further determines the intrusion location using distributed sensing techniques and generates real-time alerts with event details through a communication interface. The invention provides reliable, all-weather, privacy-preserving perimeter monitoring with reduced false positives, offline operation capability, and rapid threat assessment for critical infrastructure and border security applications.
