Abstract: To provide a shaped refractory used in an electric furnace for producing molten iron by melting an iron- containing raw material containing iron, the shaped refractory being excellent in erosion resistance. The shaped refractory contains at least one selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and carbon, and the content of magnesium oxide is 10 mass% or less. The apparent porosity of the shaped refractory is preferably 10.0 vol% or less. The content of aluminum oxide in the shaped refractory is preferably 70 mass% or more. The shaped refractory is preferably an electrocast brick. The iron-containing raw material is preferably reduced iron obtained by direct reduction ironmaking. The electric furnace is preferably a submerged-arc furnace.
