Abstract: Disclosed herein is a thermally responsive fluorescent shape memory polymer composite film synthesized using biomass-derived carbon dots obtained from Moringa oleifera leaves. The carbon dots are prepared through controlled thermal carbonization followed by acidic dispersion and centrifugation to obtain a fluorescent supernatant. The carbon dots are incorporated into an amphiphilic PEG-b-PPG-b-PEG triblock copolymer to form a stable micellar fluorescent gel. The gel is further embedded into a polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) matrix and cast into flexible films. The resulting composite exhibits strong green fluorescence with an emission peak around 443 nm under ultraviolet radiation and demonstrates thermally activated shape memory behaviour. The films show rapid recovery at approximately 80°C, high recovery ratio approaching 99%, and stable fluorescence retention over repeated thermal cycles. The invention provides an eco-friendly, multifunctional material suitable for anti-counterfeiting, information encoding, smart packaging, and advanced imaging applications.
