Abstract: Sequential hybrid retrofit system for existing three wheel cargo vehicles. The present invention relates to a hybrid retrofit system (1) for converting a three wheel cargo vehicle into a hybrid vehicle. The system comprises an electric propulsion motor (10) mounted on a chassis near a rear axle and supported by a motor mounting bracket (20), the motor (10) being mechanically coupled to the rear axle through a chain sprocket transmission arrangement (30) including a drive sprocket (301), a driven sprocket (302), and a chain (303). A battery pack (40) housed in a battery enclosure (50) supplies power to the motor (10) via a motor controller (60). A DC-DC converter (70) provides auxiliary power. A charging arrangement (80) including an engine driven alternator or generator converts mechanical energy of the engine into electrical energy for charging the battery pack (40). An electrical interconnection system (90) connects the components. A control unit (100) regulates motor assistance based on operating conditions. The system is configured as a bolt on retrofit assembly.
