Abstract: The present invention relates to an embedded motorcycle accident detection and emergency communication system [100] comprising a motion and orientation sensor assembly [102] having an accelerometer [104] and a gyroscope [106] for acquiring acceleration, impact and orientation parameters. An embedded processing unit [108] locally processes the acquired parameters, and an accident-event classification module [110] distinguishes an accident condition from normal riding conditions and non- accident disturbances. An accident-event validation module [112] initiates a predefined delay upon classification of the accident condition. An alert cancellation input [114] permits cancellation of an emergency alert during the predefined delay. In the absence of cancellation, the accident condition is confirmed and a cellular communication module [116] transmits an emergency notification and initiates a call to at least one predefined contact. A power supply unit [118] supplies operating power to the system [100].
