Abstract: This paper discusses a grid-based hybrid smart irrigation and fertigation solution that comprises of a real-time soil monitoring, automated actuation and cloud based visualization utilizing only one ESP32 microcontroller. The system has an impressive variety of sensors such as capacitive soil moisture sensor (SEN0193), TDS sensor, EC probe (Atlas Scientific EZO EC), pH sensor, DHT22 sensor and LDR sensor. The ESP32 processes all sensor readings, pumping/enabling and Wi-FI connectivity, and local Artificial Intelligence. The system communicates with Firebase Realtime Database, as well as to a dashboard on Vercel with live gauges, charts, and remote control which has two operating modes (AI/Manual). The actuation core is made up of two independent pumps which are a BLDC water pump with electronic speed controller to control precision water delivery and a peristaltic pump to control accurate delivery of fertilizers. An autonoetic Artificial Intelligence algorithm, which is a LSTM (long short-term memory) network trained on microcontroller deployment with the TensorFlow Lite platform, promotes continuous prediction improvement on the past data. The results of the experiments can be explained as at least 28-35 % of water savings, 25-32 % of fertilizer savings, the yield increases with the relevance of the AI model to historical tendencies, and the prediction error can be reduced five-mold.
