Abstract: The present invention relates to a retrofit side-view mirror maintenance system for vehicles, particularly commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, designed to maintain clear mirror visibility under adverse environmental conditions. The system integrates three synchronized cleaning modalities including mechanical wiping, fluid spraying, and thermodynamic defogging. A sensor array comprising humidity, temperature, and vibration sensors continuously monitors environmental conditions around the mirror surface and transmits data to an electronic control unit. The control unit processes the sensor inputs and selectively activates the heating element, spray subsystem, and wiper assembly to remove mud, rainwater, and condensation. The system further incorporates a safety- critical reverse gear interlock that inhibits mechanical wiper actuation when the vehicle is in reverse mode to prevent driver distraction. The entire system is housed in a modular, weather-resistant enclosure with a clamp-on mounting interface, enabling easy retrofitting onto existing mirror assemblies of legacy commercial vehicles without requiring structural modification.
