Abstract: A semi-portable restraining device for mithun includes a top frame structure 1, side frame structures 2, vertical support legs, anchor sleeves 4, and ground stakes 5 for securing the device under field conditions. The device is configured to restrain mithun during treatment, vaccination, artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, examination, and biological sample collection. An anterior portion includes an adjustable arrangement configured to accommodate different head sizes of calves, heifers, and adult mithun, and a rear portion is configured to control animal movement during restraint. In some embodiments, the device is fabricated from iron pipe and includes an iron grid covering to prevent upward movement of the animal. The device can be installed in remote, forested, hilly, and free-range locations and may also be used for restraining other livestock, including cattle and buffaloes.
