Abstract: The invention pertains to a self-disinfecting door handle using ultraviolet (UV-C) sterilization technology along with touch sensors, occupancy sensors, and smart electronics. The invention uses sensors to detect any user activity, activates a sterilization process once the user leaves the handle, ensures there is no person left in the designated safe zone, and activates UV-C LEDs for a defined period to disinfect the door handle. The invention also provides indication of the operational status, battery monitoring, cycle counting, and wireless communication capabilities for maintenance and monitoring.
