The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a self resetting roadside debris trap with an automatic drainage clearance mechanism configured for installation at roadside gutters, curb inlets, and gully openings. The device comprises a housing containing a pivotally mounted trap basket or screen assembly configured to intercept solid debris carried by surface run-off while permitting water to pass through toward an underlying drainage path. The trap basket is coupled to a discharge mechanism actuated upon accumulation of debris beyond a predetermined threshold, causing the basket to pivot from a debris-catching position to a discharge position and deposit the accumulated debris into a dedicated collection chamber. A spring-biased or counterweighted self-resetting arrangement automatically returns the trap basket to its debris-catching position after discharge without requiring external electrical power or manual intervention. Independently of the debris-trapping assembly, the device further comprises an automatic drainage clearance mechanism having a float-operated bypass flap or relief gate configured to open when the water level within the housing rises above a predetermined threshold, thereby providing a supplementary drainage path during heavy inflow or temporary obstruction of the trap basket. The bypass flap automatically returns to a closed position when the water level recedes, restoring the primary filtered flow path. The integrated device thereby provides continuous debris interception, automatic debris discharge and resetting, and independent drainage clearance without electrical power, reducing manual maintenance requirements and helping prevent roadside flooding caused by debris accumulation.
