MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126830 A) filed by Bapatla Surendra Babu; and Irukumalli Priyanka on October 24, 2026, for Self-Releasing Build Platform With Auxetic Rotating-Cell Print Skin For Extrusion Additive Manufacturing.

Inventors include Bapatla Surendra; and Irukumalli Priyanka.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: SELF-RELEASING BUILD PLATFORM WITH AUXETIC ROTATING-CELL PRINT SKIN FOR EXTRUSION ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING A self-releasing build platform (100) for extrusion additive manufacturing has a print skin (104) of rigid cells (202) joined by flexure ligaments (302) into a rotating-unit auxetic network resting on a heated support plate (102). A tensioning frame (106) holds the skin in an expanded print state and, after printing, moves one edge so that the skin contracts by 1.1% to 1.8% in both in-plane directions. The contraction shears the bond between the cells and the printed object (124) with little sensitivity to object thickness, while the stiff skin keeps the print surface rigid. Zone electrodes (206), each one lattice period square, measure the capacitance change produced as the voids between the cells close, which a translating but attached patch does not produce, so attached zones are detected before the next print. Silicone plugs (218) keep the first layer out of the voids. FIG. 1
