Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Self-Regenerating Porous Nano-Hybrid with Dynamic Surface Chemistry for Selective Separation of Toxic Metal Ions The present invention relates to a self-regenerating porous nano-hybrid for selective separation of toxic metal ions from contaminated aqueous media. The nano-hybrid comprises a porous nanostructured framework, interconnected transport pathways, selective ion-recognition sites, dynamic surface-chemistry regions, and stabilizing components. The dynamic surface chemistry reversibly changes in response to stimuli including pH, ionic strength, temperature, redox conditions, or chemical triggers, thereby regulating metal-ion affinity, accessibility, and release. Selective recognition sites preferentially bind target toxic metal ions through electrostatic interaction, ion exchange, coordination, chelation, adsorption, or combinations thereof. Following saturation, a regeneration stimulus modifies the surface chemistry to release the captured ions and restore active sites for subsequent separation cycles. The nano-hybrid may be configured as particles, membranes, coatings, monoliths, beads, or packed beds and may be used for treatment of industrial wastewater, groundwater, drinking-water sources, or process streams containing toxic metal ions. The configuration enables repeated operation with reduced secondary waste.
