Abstract: The present invention a self-powered vehicle interior system is disclosed that harvests electrical energy from occupant-induced motions occurring within vehicle interior components. Distributed harvesting modules are embedded in components including seats, steering wheel and pedals. Each module integrates a hybrid mechanism comprising piezoelectric transducer layers and triboelectric generators that convert seat pressure variations, steering rotation and grip forces, and pedal actuation into electrical energy through deformation and frictional contact-separation effects. The generated energy is rectified and conditioned by power management circuitry and stored locally in micro-supercapacitors and/or rechargeable micro-batteries. Stored energy is supplied to low-power interior electronic loads such as sensors, LEDs and control modules continuously or on demand, reducing dependence on the vehicle’s main electrical system and lowering wiring complexity. The system operates passively during normal vehicle use without altering occupant behavior and is scalable and modular across multiple interior components, improving energy efficiency and sustainability of smart vehicle interiors, especially in electric and hybrid vehicles.
