MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072846 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 12, 2026, for Self-Optimizing Cluster Formation With Predictive Demand-Aware Routing For Wireless Sensor Networks.
Inventors include Santhosh Kumar Svn; and Eswar Chandra.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SELF-OPTIMIZING CLUSTER FORMATION WITH PREDICTIVE DEMAND-AWARE ROUTING FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS A method (100) for self-optimizing cluster formation with predictive demand-aware routing in a wireless sensor network comprises initializing (102) sensor nodes across a field, each maintaining position, residual energy, role, cluster assignment, packet counters, energy history, and channel quality factor. The method comprises executing a cluster formation engine (300) performing probabilistic cluster head candidate election (302), applying an energy floor constraint (304) excluding candidates below a threshold percentage of initial energy, applying a trust gate (306) excluding candidates below a trust threshold, applying a cooldown constraint (308) excluding candidates that served as cluster head within preceding rounds, sorting eligible candidates by descending energy (310), and applying a geometry-aware spacing constraint (312) accepting candidates at least a minimum distance from every accepted cluster head. The method comprises refining cluster membership (314) over K-Means iterations and electing (316) a two-level super cluster head relay tier.
