MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631073515 A) filed by Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology Kiit Deemed To Be University on June 12, 2026, for Self-Healing Smartphone With Nanoparticle Display Layer.

Inventors include Rahul; and Raj, Harsh.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A self-healing smartphone (100) includes a display (102) configured to present visual content and a self-healing layer (104) disposed on or integrated with the display (102). The self-healing layer (104) includes nanoparticles having a size of less than 100 nm. The nanoparticles are configured to automatically repair physical damage including scratches and micro-cracks on the smartphone. The self-healing layer (104) may include a self-healing polymer or composite material that initiates a chemical or physical repair process in response to minor damage. When physical damage occurs, the nanoparticles replicate and generate additional nanomaterials that migrate to the damaged region to restore structural integrity of the self-healing layer (104). The self-healing smartphone (100) may further include a hybrid structure design (106) integrated with the self- healing layer (104) and the display (102) to combine structural, mechanical, and self-repair properties within a unified architecture.
