The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Abstract The invention discloses a self-healing concrete composition and method for enhancing structural durability through autonomous crack repair. The composition integrates microencapsulated calcium lactate and sodium silicate, Bacillus spores, and superabsorbent polymers within a cementitious matrix of OPC, fly ash, and silica fume. Upon cracking, the microcapsules rupture to release healing agents that react with moisture and carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate and silicate hydrates, sealing the cracks. Concurrently, microbial spores germinate to promote additional calcite precipitation. This dual chemical-biological mechanism restores mechanical strength and prevents ingress of water and corrosive agents. The method provides repeatable self-healing, improved durability, and extended service life for civil infrastructure.
