MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099760 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 18, 2026, for Self-Calibrating Soil Analysis Device.

Inventors include Aravindkumar S; Diraq Najir Girach; and Ayush Mehta.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device (100) for soil quality assessment. The device (100) may include a microcontroller unit (214) having a processor (302) and a memory (304), a sensing unit (202) having a soil sample interface unit (108) and an optical window (220), and an auxiliary sensor array (204). The memory (304) may store processor-executable instructions which, on execution by the processor (302), cause the microcontroller unit (214) to receive spectral data and auxiliary sensor data, combine the received data using a machine learning model stored in the memory (304), and perform on-device self-calibration by compensating for soil type, texture, and moisture variations, so as to generate calibrated soil nutrient parameters independent of field-specific laboratory calibration. The device (100) may include an organic or biodegradable battery for sustainable field operation.
