Abstract: The present invention discloses an automatically adjustable ergonomic chair system designed for use in educational environments. The system comprises a piezoelectric pressure sensor array embedded within the seat surface, an infrared height sensor, an ultrasonic lumbar sensor, a 32-bit ARM microcontroller, and motorized pneumatic actuators. Upon a student occupying the seat, the pressure sensors confirm occupancy, while the infrared and ultrasonic sensors measure the student's seated height and lumbar distance respectively. The microcontroller processes the acquired data using a pre-programmed ergonomic algorithm and automatically adjusts the seat height within a range of 280mm to 520mm and the backrest angle between 90° and 115° to achieve an optimal ergonomic seating position tailored to the individual student's body dimensions. The entire adjustment cycle is completed within 3–5 seconds without any manual intervention. The system incorporates obstruction detection, load limiting, manual override, and a status indicator LED for safe classroom operation. An optional RFID-based student profile memory enables instant recall of previously stored adjustment settings. The invention addresses the widespread problem of standardized classroom furniture failing to accommodate the varied body sizes of growing students, thereby promoting correct posture, reducing musculoskeletal strain, and improving student comfort and concentration during academic activities.
