Abstract: Title: Self-Adjusting Crop Cutting Blade Assembly Responsive to Stem Resistance The present innovation pertains to a self-adjusting crop cutting blade assembly for agricultural harvesting applications. The assembly comprises a cutting blade (205,410) mounted on an adaptive blade carrier (208, 420) movably supported relative to a frame or tool body (209,450) through a guide mechanism (202, 430). A biasing mechanism (203, 440) is disposed between the adaptive blade carrier and the frame to resist displacement and provide restoration. During operation, reaction forces exerted by crop stems (201) act as a mechanical input, causing controlled displacement of the blade carrier along a predefined path (470), including translational and/or angular movement, when the force exceeds a predetermined threshold (204). This displacement modifies at least one of the effective cutting angle and the applied cutting force, enabling efficient real-time cutting of stems having varying thickness and hardness. Upon severing of the stem, the biasing mechanism restores the blade to its original position, allowing continuous operation. The system operates passively without sensors, electronics, or external power, thereby reducing cost, improving cutting efficiency and minimizing clogging, jamming, tearing and blade wear.
