Abstract: The present invention is a Self-Lubricating Crown Contact surface for dental prostheses. The occlusal contact points of a ceramic crown are engineered to contain micro-reservoirs of a solid-state lubricant (e.g., graphite, PTFE). During chewing, friction releases the lubricant, reducing wear on the opposing natural tooth or restoration. This invention significantly prolongs the lifespan of the natural dentition opposing ceramic prostheses.
