Inventors include Vaghela Jayveersinh B; Dr. Milap G Nayak; Dr Kamlesh R Gurjar; and Dr. Hiral N. Pandya.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: Selective Catalytic Oxidation of ortho-Chlorotoluene to ortho-Chlorobenzaldehyde Continuous Flow Reactor invention relates to using a cobalt-cerium catalytic system in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent. The process is carried out in an organic acid solvent, preferably glacial acetic acid, under controlled reaction conditions in a continuous flow reactor. Controlled addition of hydrogen peroxide improves oxidant utilization, enhances catalyst stability, and suppresses over-oxidation to ortho- chlorobenzoic acid. The process provides improved conversion and high selectivity toward ortho-chlorobenzaldehyde while offering enhanced process safety, scalability, and suitability for continuous industrial production of aromatic aldehydes.
