MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631059357 A) filed by Rabinarayan Dash on May 10, 2026, for Segmented Sub-Bed Canal Water Storage System For Dual-Purpose Conveyance And Seasonal Retention In Water Conveyance Networks _________________________________.

Inventor includes Rabinarayan Dash.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: SEGMENTED SUB-BED CANAL WATER STORAGE SYSTEM FOR DUAL-PURPOSE CONVEYANCE AND SEASONAL RETENTION IN WATER CONVEYANCE NETWORKS A segmented water storage system for water conveyance canals is disclosed, wherein a retention volume (7) is created below or within a canal bed and compartmentalized using transverse segmentation barriers (8) having restricted flow passages (9). One or more terminal retention barriers (17) substantially prevent downstream drainage, enabling dual operation of the canal in a conveyance mode during periods of water availability and a storage mode during periods of reduced or no flow. The invention permits distributed seasonal storage within existing canal infrastructure without substantial additional land acquisition. Optional features include impervious lining (6), groundwater recharge zones, sediment management systems with sediment pits (20), gated flow controls (30), and hydropower integration.
