Abstract: ABSTRACT [0012] With the rapid growth of mobile devices and cloud computing, a large amount of data is continuously generated and stored in cloud storage systems. Many mobile users often upload identical or similar files, leading to data redundancy and inefficient utilization of cloud storage resources. Data deduplication is an effective technique used to eliminate duplicate copies of data and reduce storage overhead. However, performing deduplication in cloud environments introduces serious security and privacy challenges, especially when data is encrypted to protect confidentiality. This invention proposes a secure data deduplication system with dynamic access control for mobile cloud storage environments. [0013] The proposed system allows only a single copy of identical data to be stored in encrypted form while ensuring that only authorized users can access the data. To achieve secure deduplication over encrypted data, mixed message-locked encryption is employed, enabling duplicate detection without exposing plaintext data. Attribute-based encryption is used to provide fine-grained access control based on user attributes such as role and permission level. A key feature of the proposed system is dynamic user revocation. When a user’s access rights change or are revoked, the system ensures that the user can no longer access previously authorized data. This is achieved through secure key management and random stub re-encryption techniques, which prevent unauthorized access using old keys. The system also protects against key-retaining and stub-retaining attacks. Experimental evaluation is performed using a synthetic dataset that simulates real mobile cloud storage scenarios with duplicate user-generated files. The results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively reduces storage redundancy while maintaining strong data security and flexible access control. Overall, the proposed approach provides a secure, efficient, and scalable solution for data deduplication in mobile cloud storage environments.
