The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Secure Client-Side Attention Verification Framework for Digital Learning Platforms for privacy-preserving validation of user engagement in online learning sessions. The framework runs locally on the user’s device in a secure sandboxed environment and collects and processes multi-modal interaction data such as eye-gaze vectors, keyboard and mouse activity, and window switching events. An attention score is calculated by a client-side evaluation engine without sending any raw biometric or behavioural data to external servers. We propose a localised cryptographic engine that produces a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP)- based verification token that attests to the user's adherence to pre-defined engagement criteria, while hiding all underlying telemetry and attention metrics. After the tokens are generated, all temporary interaction data and calculated scores are deleted securely from the memory. The only thing that gets sent to a remote Learning Management System (LMS) is the cryptographic verification token. The LMS can use that token to verify the proof, but it does not see or store any sensitive information about the user. The proposed framework improves data privacy, reduces the risk of exposure of biometric data, supports compliance with data protection regulations, and provides a secure, scalable and trustworthy solution for verification of engagement in online education, remote assessments, and digital training environments.
