Abstract: The present disclosure provides a seat belt latching assembly 100 that uses programmable polymagnets for belt fixation. The seat belt latching assembly 100 comprises a buckle assembly 105 comprising a static frame 106 with a first of polymagnets 108 fixed to the seat frame, and a tongue 104 with a second set of polymagnets 110. When the tongue 104 is moved towards the static frame 106, the first and second set of polymagnets 108, 110 are activated to attract each other and secure the tongue 104 to the static frame 106, thereby latching the seat belt 102. A cushioning aluminum lid 124 covers to a top portion of the buckle assembly 105 to reduce occupant discomfort. The present disclosure offers an improved, efficient, and sustainable solution for seat belt latching, providing enhanced comfort for the occupant. FIG. 1
