Abstract: ABSTRACT SALICYLIC ACID DERIVED CARBON DOTS (SA-CDs) INHIBITING SARS-COV-2/CHIKV/JEV/HSV-1 INFECTION AND ITS METHOD OF PREPARATION The present invention relates to Salicylic acid derived carbon dots (SA-CDs) inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 infection and its method of preparation. The Invention provides Carbon dots (about 2nm size) and their method of synthesis by a novel microwave irradiation method using salicylic acid as a precursor. The synthesized carbon dots exhibit significant antiviral activity against SARS CoV-2 infection. The carbon dots were synthesized from salicylic acid which is known to be biocompatible. Also, these were non-toxic at the tested concentration and water soluble (unlike salicylic acid). The Invention provides a novel method which is developed by optimizing the duration of microwave irradiation exposure and temperature.
