Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety-enhanced hypodermic needle assembly (100) comprising a protective cap body (101) detachably engageable with a needle hub (105). The protective cap body (101) includes an indicator layer (102), a colour indicator zone (103), and a transparent window (104) aligned with the colour indicator zone (103). The indicator layer (102) comprises an irreversible colour-responsive material adapted to change from a first predetermined colour indicating a sterile unused condition to a second predetermined colour indicating usage, exposure, contamination, or tampering. A chemically inert barrier (106) separates the indicator layer (102) from the needle-receiving region to prevent contact with the hypodermic needle. The assembly (100) enables visual identification of compromised needle condition, thereby reducing accidental reuse, cross-contamination, and infection risk. Figure 1 is the reference.
