MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641067330 A) filed by Dr. Chellapandian Kannan on May 29, 2026, for Room Temperature Fabrication Of A Novel Semi Conductor Material Karalite-B For Green Catalysis.
Inventors include Dr. Chellapandian Kannan; and S. Sri Rajeswary.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Integrated framework of Hexagonal Quartz phase Aluminophosphate, Orthorhombic Zinc Pyrophosphate and Hexagonal Zincite is synthesized at room temperature. It is a novel material and its structure is proved by XRD. The novel material is named as Karalite-B. The material has the semi-conductor property with a band gap of 3.3 eV It is proved by UV-DRS characterization. The semi- conductor is applicable for all sensor and electronic devices. The same property is applied for catalytic conversion of waste cooking oil into biodiesel at room temperature. The conversion is 99% and the reaction time is maximum one hour. The crude glycerol from the bio diesel synthesis is also converted into oxygenated fuel additives using the catalyst in a short period of time at room temperature. The semi-conductor property plays a vital role in high conversion in a short period of reaction.
