Abstract: A robotic surgical system (100) includes a surgeon console (130) having a foot-operated caster brake arrangement (200) for selectively locking and unlocking rotation of a caster (202) mounted on a base plate (204). A brake pedal (206), guided by a linear rail (208) and linear block (210), moves between released and locked positions. A cam (212) on the brake pedal (206) has upper and lower latch points engaged by a follower link (214), pivoted to the base plate (204), retaining the brake pedal (206) at both positions without continuous force. A spring (216) between the brake pedal (206) and a brake flange (218) biases the brake pedal (206). A rack (220) and gear (222) convert pedal movement into shaft rotation, the shaft (224) supported by a bearing arrangement (226) and engaging a caster socket via a caster flange (228), locking or unlocking the caster (202) via a single foot actuation.
