The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A robotic surgical system (100) includes an assembly (200) for deterministic RFID-based instrument authorization and lifecycle management of a reusable surgical instrument (202) having an embedded RFID tag storing structured instrument data, including an instrument identifier, instrument type, usage count, usage limit, and lifecycle metadata. An RFID reader module (204) performs read, write, authorization, validation, and locking operations on the RFID tag. A microcontroller unit (MCU) (206), coupled to the RFID reader module and to an EtherCAT Slave Controller (ESC) (208) via SPI (210), permits RFID operations exclusively when the ESC is in a validated EtherCAT operational state, inhibiting them otherwise, independently of application-layer software. The ESC maps RFID-derived instrument data into an EtherCAT process data image for cycle-synchronized access by an EtherCAT master (212), which drives EtherCAT communication cycles, completes instrument authorization, and gates robotic motion actuation on successful completion of the instrument authorization.
