MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101661 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 22, 2026, for Robotic Gripping System For Handling Objects.
Inventors include R. Dhanush; Annis Fathima; Subbahemanth Raju M V; Guhapriyan K K; G Gokul; S Vithun; and Arjun Rajasekaran.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (600) for computer-vision-based robotic gripping for handling objects (108). The system (600) includes a housing (114), four finger subassemblies (116) arranged around a gripping region (118), an actuation subsystem (120), an image-capturing subsystem (610) having an overhead camera (102) and an in-gripper camera (106), a sensing subsystem (122), a memory (606), and one or more processors (604). The one or more processors (604) identify the object (108) from image data, estimate a pose of the object (108) and one or more grasp parameters, control the actuation subsystem (120) to actuate the four finger subassemblies (116), receive grasp-feedback signals indicative of contact force or slippage, compare the grasp-feedback signals with the one or more grasp parameters, and adjust actuation until a gripping force is achieved.
