MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108540 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 10, 2026, for Robotic Gripper System And Method For Force Characterization And Object Handling.

Inventors include Veerapu Goutham; and Parveshh Prabhu.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a robotic gripper system (100) including a training arm configured to characterize force to handle one or more objects, wherein the training arm includes a training gripper having opposing jaws and one or more load cells (128A-N) structurally integrated into load-bearing portions of the opposing jaws; a working arm configured to handle the objects at one or more workstations, wherein the working arm includes a working gripper having opposing jaws and two or more load cells (128A-N) associated with the opposing jaws; and a control unit communicatively coupled to the training arm or working arm, a memory, and an object identification unit or safety and anomaly detection unit. The control unit extracts force characterization data from the training arm and generates input signals for the working arm to handle identified objects by processing the extracted force characterization data.
