Abstract: ABSTRACT ROAD USER ASSISTING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSISTING A ROAD USER APPROACHING PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AREA Disclosed is a road user assisting system (100) for enhancing pedestrian safety and driver awareness. The system (100) comprises a radar (102) adapted to monitor one or more vehicles (104) traveling on a road (106A-N) by locating a first and second position of the vehicle at a given time interval. One or more imaging sensors (108) are positioned adjacent to a pedestrian crossing area (110) to capture images of the crossing. A processor (112) receives vehicle location data and captured images, analyzes vehicle speed, identifies the lane of travel, and detects deflections indicative of a lane change as the vehicle (104) approaches the pedestrian crossing (110). Upon identifying pedestrian presence, the processor (112) communicates the same to one or more display units (114A-N) positioned upstream to alert the road user. The present disclosure also relates to a method 200 of assisting a road user approaching a pedestrian crossing area (110). Figure 1A will be the reference.
