Abstract: Abstract Risk-Responsive Access Control System for Avalanche-Prone Transportation Corridors The present invention relates to a risk-responsive controlled-access system for avalanche-prone transportation corridors. The system comprises environmental and snow-condition sensors, a controller, a vehicle-monitoring arrangement and a physical access-control mechanism. The controller processes sensed parameters to determine an avalanche-risk state, while vehicle entry and exit records are reconciled to determine vehicles remaining within a monitored zone. An access-control state is determined based on both the avalanche-risk state and the vehicle- occupancy state. During a critical risk condition, entry of additional vehicles is restricted while evacuation of vehicles already present within the zone may be permitted. The system may further determine sensor reliability, maintain essential safety functions locally during communication failure, generate warning indications and transmit sensor, risk and vehicle information to a remote monitoring interface.
