Abstract: ABSTRACT RISC-V BASED MICROCONTROLLER UNIT FOR AUTOMOTIVE BODY CONTROL APPLICATIONS The present invention discloses a 32-bit RISC-V based microcontroller unit system (100) for automotive body control unit applications. The system (100) comprises a PicoRV32 processor core (110), an address decoder (120), instruction and data memory (130), a custom APB bridge (140) implementing a two-state finite state machine with setup (142) and enable (144) states, and a GPIO peripheral (150) with data register (152) and direction register (154). The APB bridge (140) translates the processor native valid-ready interface into APB-compliant transactions for deterministic peripheral communication. A memory-mapped peripheral framework (160) enables modular expansion for additional automotive peripherals without architectural modification. The architecture is implemented on an FPGA platform (170) supporting scalable migration to ASIC implementations, providing a cost-effective open-source alternative to proprietary automotive microcontrollers for real-time vehicle body electronics control.
