Abstract: RHODODENDRON ARBOREUM FLOWER-DERIVED CARBON QUANTUM DOTS WITH DURABLE ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY FOR BIOPOLYMERIC FRUIT PRESERVATION FILM TO EXTEND SHELF-LIFE AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF. The Present invention relates to Rhododendron arboreum flower-derived carbon quantum dots (RACQDs) and their incorporation into biodegradable biopolymeric films for fruit preservation applications. The RACQDs are manufactured through a hydrothermal process and incorporated into hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based films to impart antioxidant, antibacterial, and ultraviolet (UV)-barrier properties. The synthesized RACQDs-HPMC/PVA films shows improved physicochemical characteristics, enhanced UV shielding ability, significant antioxidant activity, and antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. The films additional shows flexibility, transparency, and improved moisture resistance suitable for food packaging applications. The RACQDs-HPMC/PVA film efficiently reduces weight loss and preserves the visual appearance of sapota fruits during storage, thereby extending shelf-life. The invention provides a green, metal- free, biodegradable, and multifunctional fruit packaging material synthesized without harsh chemical reagents.
