Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an RFID-Based Smart Ambulance Traffic Alert System Using NodeMCU ESP8266 for Intelligent Emergency Vehicle Priority Management. More particularly, the invention provides an automated traffic signal control system capable of identifying authorized ambulances using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and dynamically controlling traffic signals to provide uninterrupted passage through road intersections. The system comprises an RFID tag installed inside an ambulance, an RFID reader positioned near a traffic junction, a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, a traffic signal control unit, a visual LCD alert display, and a regulated power supply. Upon detecting the ambulance RFID tag, the NodeMCU authenticates the vehicle and immediately changes the corresponding traffic signal to GREEN while simultaneously switching conflicting traffic directions to RED. A visual message stating "AMBULANCE ALERT – CLEAR THE WAY" is displayed to alert nearby motorists and pedestrians. After the ambulance clears the intersection, the controller automatically restores the normal traffic signal sequence. The invention significantly reduces ambulance waiting time, improves emergency medical response, minimizes traffic congestion, lowers implementation cost compared to GPS-based systems, and is suitable for intelligent transportation systems, smart city infrastructure, hospital emergency services, highway traffic management, and municipal traffic control.
