Abstract: A novel, thin-film far-infrared (2–20 µm) resistive sensor has been developed using iron tellurate (Fe2TeO6). The material is synthesized on a gram scale via a hydrothermal process and deposited on Au-patterned 7 substrates. The sensor demonstrates a rapid resistance drop from 60 MO to 8.2 MO within 4 seconds on IR exposure at a rate of 13 kO/ms, and recovery to the original resistance within 3 seconds at 14 kO/ms. The resistance change is fully reversible without external intervention, enabling real-time, energy-efficient operation. The low-cost fabrication (4–5 INR/device) and sensitivity to far-IR make it ideal for applications in touchless interfaces, proximity sensors, and industrial monitoring systems. 14 This invention offers scalable, cost-effective, and high-performance IR sensing capabilities.
