Abstract: Disclosed is a reusable absorbent garment (100) comprising a garment body (102) and a multilayer gusset assembly (108) secured relative to the garment body (102). The gusset assembly (108) comprises a body-facing layer (110), at least one absorbent layer (112), and a fluid barrier layer (114) arranged in a stacked configuration. A bifold leak-proof member (116) is positioned along a peripheral edge boundary of the gusset assembly (108). In one implementation, the bifold leak-proof member (116) is bonded to the gusset assembly (108) prior to attachment of the gusset assembly (108) to the garment body (102). In another implementation, the bifold leak-proof member (116) is bonded along peripheral edge regions of the gusset assembly (108) after positioning of the gusset assembly (108) relative to the garment body (102).
