MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110139 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 14, 2026, for Retrofit Gas Stove Safety Controller With Reinforcement Learning-Based User Adaptation.
Inventors include Arun Pandian J; and Vijaykrishnan P.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety control system for a gas-operated stove incorporating automated gas-flow control and adaptive user-specific flame management. The system comprises a stove knob (201), a Tower Pro SG90 Micro Servo Motor (202), an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller (203), an LCD Display (205), a DHT11 Temperature and Humidity Sensor (206), an Infrared Flame Sensor Module (207), an MQ-2 Gas Sensor Module (208), a Buzzer (209), and a Companion Learning & Connectivity Module (210). The Arduino Uno R3 (203) continuously processes temperature, flame, and gas-condition data to identify hazardous conditions and automatically actuates the servo motor (202) to rotate the stove knob (201) toward a closed position while providing audible and visual alerts. A reinforcement-learning policy uses user interactions, flame adjustments, sensor conditions, and contextual information to personalize flame-level recommendations. The Companion Learning & Connectivity Module (210) performs policy updates and transfers the updated policy to the Arduino (203). The learned policy remains subordinate to deterministic safety controls, thereby providing adaptive operation while maintaining fail-safe stove protection.
