Abstract: A retractable tray assembly for mounting above a wash basin comprises a wall-mounted roller housing, a tambour-type tray made of hinged slats that rolls onto a roller shaft for storage and unrolls into a flat, load-bearing surface for use, a pair of foldable side support rods that extend and fold in tandem with the tray to stiffen its edges, and a pull handle for manual extension and retraction. In the extended position, the tray lies over the basin to catch hair during combing and to support light articles such as cosmetics; in the retracted position, the tray coils compactly near the wall, out of the way, in a manner similar in operating principle to a roller window blind or pull-down projector screen.
