Abstract: A machine (1) has a capsule extraction module (10,20) for preparing a beverage from an ingredient contained in a capsule (100) by supplying an extraction liquid (e.g. water) into such capsule (100). The extraction module (10,20) has: first and second capsule enclosure parts (10,20) movable relative to each other between a proximate position for enclosing and processing the capsule (100) to prepare a beverage in the module (10,20) and a distant position for inserting the capsule (100) and removing the capsule (100) from the module (10,20); and a capsule removal arrangement (40,50) for assisting removal of such capsule (100) when the first and second parts (10,20) are brought from the proximate to the distant position. At least one of the first and second capsule enclosure parts (10,20) has a corresponding cooperating face (11,21) extending over a corresponding capsule (101). At least one of first and second pushers (40,50) comprises a pusher face (41,51) for pushing the corresponding capsule face (101,102) away from the corresponding cooperating enclosure part face (11,21). The first pusher face (41) and the first cooperating enclosure part face (11) have a surface area ratio of at least 0.1 and/or at most 10; and/or the second pusher face (51) and the second cooperating enclosure part face (21) have a surface area ratio of at least 0.05 and/or at most 0.2.
