Abstract: Reliability-Aware Multi-Sensor Edge Mobility Aid with Prioritized Hazard Feedback for Visually Impaired Users ABSTRACT The invention relates to an embedded mobility-assistance system for a visually impaired user. An image sensor (001), time-of-flight sensor (002) and ultrasonic sensor (003) provide image, depth and proximity data to an embedded processing unit (004) executing a local object-classification model (005). A confidence-weighted sensor-fusion module (006) determines sensor-specific reliability weights and generates fused obstacle estimates. A spatial hazard-mapping module (007) assigns detected objects to ground-level, body-level or head-level hazard zones. A hazard-priority computation module (011) calculates and ranks hazard scores using object class, distance, hazard zone, movement trend and sensor reliability. An audio-feedback module (009) announces a highest-ranked hazard while suppressing lower-priority alerts. An event-triggered power controller (008) varies image acquisition or inference rate according to environmental changes. Unreliable sensor data is reduced or excluded while hazard detection continues using remaining reliable sensors.
